Finally.. My own release for FOLCORE!!

This group has been a key player in the latino scene, but mainly it is because their members work "behind the scene"

I am happy to be involved some of the people here.. specially having in mind they are the same guys who run CABEZA netlabel, or cumbia curator and authority my brother Thomas CanalH, El compadre Mexicano Bootlegumachine who I had the honor of collab with a LATINO RESISTE release,  my two good friends Cherman, El Timbe, plus a bunch more talented producers.

In 2012, FOLCORE will be releasing lots of EXCLUSIVE material from all of the members.

I decided to do a different album for FolCORE, because I normally drop more electic music, and most of the time I am politically charged, although only those who understand spanish can actually get the meaning of my lyrics...

Humberto Pernett, es tal vez, junto a Richard Blair, Ivan Benavides, Teto Ocampo, Edson Velandia, Rodrigo Mancera, y otros no tan conocidos.. uno de los padres del neo folclor Colombiano.

Humberto ha fusionado casi todos los ritmos afro caribes/pacificos (sino todos) con beats, sintetizadores y percusion organica.

Pero algo mas valioso que su fusion, es el hecho que El se atrevio a hacer esta fusion cuando muchisimos solo escuchaban rock-fusion.

Y los mas pegajoso era Celso y su cumbia sobre el rio.

Sin Embargo.. Pernett en este entonces (& los Caribbean Ravers) saco este trabajo

Optimo - Positivo

que junto con huele a mariacachafa, determinaron el curso de el sonido electronico Colombiano.

La Evolucion musical de Pernett, puede ser subjetiva, como con cualquier fraccion del arte. Dos personas viendo/oyendo lo mismo no piensan igual.

Sin embargo algo que no se puede dudar, es el inmenso valor musical que pernett ha aportado al neofolclor Colombiano.

Otro de los padres es Richard Blair ( Aunque es de UK, personalmente lo siento mas Colombiano que muchos, y con un total respeto por las raices) quien  hace que su musica tenga esa "alma" palenquera y a su vez su influencia extranjera.

Yo escuche a Sidestepper en 1997, aunque era mas "salsa-fusion", se sentia ese sabor latino

y si escuchan la voz facilmente nos dirige hacia nuestros siguientes precursores

Desde Santander.. Sergio y Edson.. y los demas chicos de Cabuya

Pero antes de estos chicos existieron junto a muchos mas como la mojarra electrica, Juan Matachin, morfonia etc.. existio el combo mas bravo:

Sin el bloque, no habria Carlos Vives, sin Carlos vives, No habria Tropi pop, sin Tropi pop, no existiria contra cultura, que es basicamente, nuestro adorado folclor.

Mauricio y Palo de agua ( a mi manera personal, la mejor imitacion de Carlos Vives)

y como dato curioso ( al menos cuando vivia en Colombia) el percusionista de Palo de Agua era Diego Cadavid, quien fue uno de los fundadores de Bomba Estereo.. hehehe

Puerto  Candelaria from Medellin is easily the best band doing contemporary jazz/cumbia/latin rhythms fusion
